The forum is being held in conjunction with U. S. Sunshine Week, which will be celebrated March 11-17. The objectives of Sunshine Week are to promote the public's right to information, to demonstrate the impact of information on communities and to open a discussion about the importance of open government.
Alan N. Cote, state supervisor of public records, will be the keynote speaker.
Other panelists will include District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr., and Bill Randall, a citizen blogger. Members of the media serving on the panel will be Jay Whearley, city editor of the Telegram & Gazette, Jaime Flores, reporter for El Vocero Hispano, and Mike Benedetti, reporter for Worcester Indymedia and WCCA TV13.

On Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Quinsigamond Community College from 6-8 pm, the Worcester Public Schools is hosting an Advanced Placement Family Awareness evening for students in grades 6, 7 and 8 and their families to discuss the importance of taking rigorous classes in middle school to better prepare them for AP courses in high school as well as college courses. We are estimating 300 people will attend this event.
The purpose of the Advanced Placement Family Awareness Event is to provide students and their families with information at an early age in order for them to make appropriate educational choices. To that end, this interactive family event is designed to raise awareness of the Advanced Placement Program offered in the Worcester Public Schools.
James A. Caradonio, Superintendent of the Worcester Public Schools and Robert Layne, Director of Outreach Programs and Worcester Pipeline collaborative Coordinator will be speaking at this event. A Worcester Public Schools AP student will share the student perspective.
