The Worcester Democratic City Committee will hold its Annual John F. Kennedy Awards Dinner, this year celebrating its 20th Anniversary, on Satuday June 16, 2007 with a reception at 6:00 PM and dinner at 7:00 PM at the Worcester Hotel and Conference Center (formerly the Holiday Inn) at 500 Lincoln St., Worcester. The dinner will highlight award presentations to five outstanding Worcester Democrats: John Conte (RFK Lifetime Achievement Award), Stella Boucher (JFK Female Democrat of the Year), Bob Knittle (JFK Male Democrat of the Year), and Robert Thomas (Barbara Jordan Award). In celebration of this year's 20th Anniversary, all past Lifetime Achievement Award recipients will also be recognized. US Senator John F. Kerry will serve as the dinner's Keynote Speaker. Also speaking will be newly elected Democratic Party Chairman, John Walsh. The dinner is open to the public. No tickets will be sold at the door. Where: Frances Perkins Branch Library, 470 Boylston Street, Worcester, Massachusetts How: Drop off artwork at the Frances Perkins Branch starting May 14 - June 15 during library hours. June 21 at 7:00 P.M. is the Grand Opening & Artist’s Reception; all welcome! Artwork can be anything you have made this year at home, school (anywhere!). You can you crayons, paint, clay, wood (anything!). The artwork will be on exhibit from July 2 – July 27, 2007. Why: Because everyone IS an artist! # # #

Burncoat Baptist Church will hold a Community Ice Cream Social at 475 Burncoat Street in Worcester on Friday, June 22 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Root beer floats cost $1.50 each, ice cream sodas $1.50 each, and ice cream sundaes with lots of your favorite toppings, $2.00 each. Children's sizes are available. The Muscular Dystrophy Association & the Bank of America Championship will host the Stride and Ride walk-a-thon, which will take place this year during the final round of the PGA TOUR’s Champions Tour event at Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord on Sunday, June 24. All proceeds benefit MDA’s fight against neuromuscular diseases. Walkers will be able to watch their favorite Champions Tour players, such as Tom Kite, Craig Stadler and Tom Watson, while walking the 4.3 mile route along Nashawtuc’s beautiful 18 holes.
