Writing the Sacred: A Psalm-Inspired Workshop

10/11/2007 - 6:30pm

Ray McGinnis is a “psalm-enthusiast,” a man who delights in the spectrum of beauty and meaning in the ancient Psalms and in guiding people in the expression of their spirituality through writing. He travels internationally to share his enthusiasm with others, inviting them to “bring their whole heart, mind and spirit to the process.”

A noted poet and teacher from Vancouver, British Columbia, McGinnis has taught more than 6,000 people how to write prayers, poetry, and autobiographies. He studied with Kathleen Adams, author of Journal to the Self, is a published poet, and has kept his own journal since 1981. He has more than twenty years of experience as a group facilitator and has led writing workshops in numerous settings including retreats, healthcare facilities, and professional and church groups.

On October 11, McGinnis will lead “Writing the Sacred: A Psalm-Inspired Workshop” at United Congregational Church (UCC), 6 Institute Road. The evening will begin with refreshments at 6:30 p.m. and the workshop will follow from 7-9:30 p.m. A donation of $10 (or whatever participants are able to contribute) is requested and payable upon arrival.
