"Best Government Money Can Buy" or "Will One Company Own ALL the Media in the USA Soon?"

"The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is moving toward a
consolidation of American Media. That means that a one big media company can own all
newspapers, radio, and TV stations in one community, controlling all the news,
media, and entertainment, and it's content. This may be decided in December 2007.
Several hearing were held with short notice. The one in Seattle on November 9, 2007
was set up with only 5 days notice. Still, over 1000 people attended. Over 275
people signed up for public testimony, which went on past 1 am. Each person was
allowed up to 2 minutes. This and other uploaded videos are their testimony. (Not
covered by the big media outlets) -- this is one of the few places where you can
hear their non-censored views."
It really bothers me that such an important issue is announced with "only 5 days notice". I begs the question who is the FCC commissioner working for? The people or the lobbyist of big media?

Best Gov $ Can Buy
During the recent WCCA TV /WCRN coverage of the election night, I heard District Councilor Phil Palmieri say Worcester needs to hire a lobbyist.
I find that line of thinking totally absurd.
Especially to be coming from a city councilor.
In our democracy, our elected representatives are voted on, by the people, to "REPRESENT US". Our elected are our lobbyist.
Our congressperson(s), our Federal and State Senators, our state Reps, the city council members, the Mayor, the City Manager who is appointed by the city elected, should make it their DAILY business to send our voices to the state and federal capital chambers to ensure we get what we, the people, demand. That is their real job before anything else.
I am so sick of experiencing the failure of our elected to do so and so many occasions. Where were they during the FCC hearings? I hope some where there FOR THE PEOPLE.
I found it disappointing to hear a district councilor advocate for an expensive lobbyist. Especially during these financially challenging times. Lobbyist should be banned from all levels of government. I thought our government was supposed to be by, for and of the people.
If the FCC get away with that. We it is apparently the best government money can buy.
