REPLICA OF THE CHARTRES CATHEDRAL LABYRINTH AT ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH

Date:
02/09/2008 8:00am

Ayer, Massachusetts -- Parishioners of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Ayer, Massachusetts and the greater Central Massachusetts community are invited to walk on a replica of the Chartres Cathedral Labyrinth on Lenten Quiet Day, Saturday, February 9, 2008. Two pilgrimages, beginning at 9:30 am through 2:30 pm, will be held in the Parish Hall next door to the historic church that was first established in 1889, located at 7 Faulkner Street, Ayer, MA.
The world-famous Labyrinth at the Chartres, France’s largest Gothic cathedral located in the medieval town of Chartres, was built in 1205 AD. For centuries, pilgrims have walked the beautiful stones of the Labyrinth in search of the inspiration that permeates the dark cathedral. The Quiet Lenten Day at St. Andrew’s will provide pilgrims with a similar opportunity for prayer, introspection, and time to reflect as they walk the Labyrinth. The morning session will feature Opening Prayer, an introduction to the Labyrinth, and a guided walk. Visitors are welcome to bring bag lunches, but beverages and desserts will be provided. The afternoon session will begin at 12:45 pm and will be less structured than the first with another opportunity to walk the Labyrinth.
