Date:
10/29/2008 5:30pm - 9:30pm
Join the YWCA Central Massachusetts for its annual Women’s Health Night on Wednesday, October 29 from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. at One Salem Square, downtown Worcester. The event, presented by the YWCA and sponsored by UMass Memorial Medical Center, is free and open to the public.
Women’s Health Night is devoted to empowering women to take charge of their health and the health of their family. Beginning at 4:30 p.m. participants can attend a Health Expo featuring exhibits and displays of local agencies, community resources, health screenings, free chair massage and Reiki. The evening also includes a series of educational workshops on health and other topics important to today’s woman, including an advocacy workshop titled "Stand Up for Women's Health" and information about non-toxic cosmetics and body products provided by the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition. New this year, the Department of Public Health will hold a flu clinic in conjunction with the Women’s Health Night, offering free flu shots to adults 18 and over. Other highlights include Medication Safety presentations and a presentation by keynote speaker Lorraine Cole, Ph.D., CEO of the YWCA of the USA.
