Malcolm In The Middle and music rights

My family really enjoys Malcolm In The Middle and were wondering why they can't release future Malcolm in the Middles.

My wife found out that the reason why these shows are unavailable to the public in DVD format is because they can't or at least, as far as we understand it, have not secured the right to the MUSIC that they were able to use for free on show but not on DVD sales.

The lesson here for public access, community and really all film and TV producers, is think ahead and plan accordingly.
