Wanted: your questions for Soapbox (Monday, March 26, 2007)
Submitted by mauro on March 23, 2007 - 9:26pm.
Last month many sent in great questions for the City Manager. The only glitch was there was a last minute cancelation, the Manager couldn't make it for the taping.
WCCA has him scheduled for this coming Monday, March 29th. So feel free to submit your questions for me to relay to him. You have until Sunday evening before 9PM to submit your questions.
I look forward to your input. I want as many as possible to participate in the show.
Thanks

walmart
What will you do to keep Wal-Mart out or at the very least make it more small business friendly.
Small business
You could ask this of the City Manager, or better yet any local politician you are interviewing:
* Do you support small business in Worcester? If so, do you also support Wal-Mart coming to town?
If he says he supports both, ask how he squares these views.
jobs and the economy
What is being done to encourage graduates of Worcester's colleges to stay in the city?
Gay in Worcester
Gay people in Worcester feel like they need to go to Boston or Providence to go clubbing. What is Worcester doing to help our gay community and bring those dollars back to the city? Does the City Square project set aside money for gay friendly businesses?
City Council terms
Would it ever make sense for the City of Worcester to introduce term limits for City Councilors?
Walmart Question
Thanks, I will ask him a combination of both Walmart questions.
Thanks again for your questions.

WCCA along with other media
WCCA along with other media outlets in Worcester recently held a panel discussion on Sunshine Week and why open meetings and full disclosure to public records requests are so important. City Manager O'Brien, could you grade you and your administration's compliance with public records requests from Worcester residents and from the Secretary of the Commonwealth's Office.
The City Manager has said,
The City Manager has said, "everything is on the table" in terms of potential budget cuts.
The City of Worcester could save thousands of dollars if instead of police officers, the City used privately contracted flaggers
at construction sites. If "everything is on the table", is the City Manager willing to initiate the legislative process to make this happen.
Green/Clean Energy in Worcester's future
City Square is a great oppourtunity to incorporate Green Energy policies in Worcester. Why didnt you collaborate with Berkely Investments to bring this into Worcester?
