Airport--Mike O'Brien
It appears that the new operating agreement with MassPort will have them paying 100% of the operating deficit. Will they pay the debt service which is approximately 600,000 per year??
Also assume that this lease contains an option to buy at the end of the lease. How was the purchase price arrived at?
Thank You
Bill Randell
Street Sweeping
It seems that every spring and summer, a massive street sweeping goes on, but is extremely disorganized. Signs are posted on both sides of the street but do not have a date on them so residents don't actually know when the streets will be swept. In addition, they "sweep" all the surrounding neighborhoods at once so there is no where to park a car. Is there a way to make this system more efficient, like only sweeping one side of the street at a time?
Sustainability
How does City Square and the SkyBridge fit into a sustainable future for Worcester?
Perhaps you haven't noticed that our automobile dependancy is creating global problems and is becoming increasingly unaffordable. How does attracting visitors to Worcester reduce our automobile dependancy?

Airport
If Massport takes over can we expect the type of airport that would be used as a mixed use airport with commercial and cargo as well as other types of growth? If so what type of service will we see?
Thank you

Airport - Mike O'Brien
How does it feel to know that there are tennants at the the airport that have had no heat, running water(which means no bathrooms), leaky roofs, and poor lighting all winter? Who is responsible for making sure that the lease for businesses are being complied with? Some of these tennents are direct tennents of the city. Some are tennents from other business whom are direct tennents of the city and no action has been taken to fix the problems quickly. Yet if I had a 3 decker in the city that had no heat to my tennents. I would be locked up in jail. Seems to me like the city is above the law.
Repost from the airport blog
I think it's worth clearing up these misconceptions.

Question: Given that the City should not be in airport business or the nursing home business (former Belmont Home) or the hospital business (former City Hospital) then why should the city be subsidizing the television broadcasting business (WCCA)and should the performers, community activists and politicians who frequent WCCA airwaves find their own venue and pay for it?
Why do I have to subsidize their venues with my cable TV dollars and dont tell me it's only 11 cents per month added on to my monthly Charter bill.

Why not turn the airport into a wind farm.....not only would it generate a clean energy source,it would generate much needed dollars for the city, and take some of the burden of Worcester Residents.
