Join Cultural Exchange Through Soccer (CETS), the Pleasant Street Neighborhood Network Center, and Worcester Common Ground for the Second Annual Worcester World Cup on August 11th & 12th!

This two-day area tournament will be comprised of teams representing different nations from around the world. We’ve increased the number of men’s teams to 14. 4 women’s teams will participate. Men’s teams already signed-up are Togo (last year’s champions), Albania (last year’s 2nd place team), Iran, Jamaica, Ghana, Guatemala, Brazil, Kosova, Vietnam, Iraq, Ecuador, & Senegal. The women’s bracket has USA (last year’s champions), El Salvador (last year’s 2nd place team), & Guatemala signed-up.

The tournament will be at Elm Park Community School. As was last year, the Worcester World Cup will be a community celebration with entertainment along with games for children, national flags representing the teams, ethnic food vendors, and more! There is no entrance fee for spectators.

Cultural Exchange Through Soccer (CETS) was born out of the effort to build relationships in an internationally diverse neighborhood and to support Elm Park Community School’s growth. It is a unique program that has proven its ability to bring neighbors together for recreation and for the common good of the neighborhood. CETS was started in the summer of 2003 and has grown substantially since. What was an 8- week program with a dozen kids and one coach now boasts over 65 participants, including 14 coaches. We play year-round: indoors in the EPCS gymnasium, outdoors at the EPCS school yard.

The complete schedule will be determined by early August. For more information or questions, contact Laura at 508.754.7793.
