How do you feel about the temporary moratorium regarding electronic and illuminated signage?

A public hearing tonight at march 31, 2010 at 5:30PM in the Levi Lincoln Chamber , 3rd floor, at City Hall.

You will find some type of illuminated signs in many vibrant cities across the nation. Such signs are used to promote business, give credit to donors, promote events, to adorn buildings aesthetically, or help with way finding.

Some seem to feel, including the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, that the city's attempt to amend the current zoning ordinance is problematic and over reaching. Much of the legitimate issues can be addressed on a case by case basis. So why a sweep prohibiting new signage or replacement or expansions of new signage, as such, across the entire city? What are your thoughts on this?
