Worcester Public Access TV produced Senior Speak. A show for seniors by seniors hosted by Frank Mathews, Bill Durkan and Edith Morgan and the gang at Worcester's Senior Center. Senior issues are discused, Tony and Greg provide musical entertainment and a good time is had by all.

Worcester Cares for Haiti

Mayor Joe O'Brien's Office announces the following and WCCA TV encourages all to participate in this worthy cause:

The earthquake that devastated Haiti on January 12th has affected more
than 3 million people. The relief needs are staggering and the people in
Haiti desperately need our support. Today, people are still being
rescued and more than a million people will need fresh water, food and
shelter.

Please join us for a special event, Worcester Cares for Haiti, this
Friday, January 22nd from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Union Station. This event
will bring together the people of Worcester to highlight the various
efforts to support the people of Haiti. Local charities such as the
United Way, The American Red Cross and Catholic Relief Services will be
accepting donations that will go to support the immediate needs of the
people of Haiti.

Music will be provided by a terrific local band, Wilbur and the Dukes,

Gala Military Ball

The Massachusetts Veterans, Inc. announces its biennial Gala Military Ball on Saturday, the 27th of September 2008. Cocktail hour is at 6:00pm; doors open for dinner at 7:00pm.

The black-tie event will be held at the Massachusetts National Guard Armory Museum in Worcester. Ticket prices are $100.00 dollars per person and include hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, dinner catered by Pepper’s Fine Foods, dancing to the Ron Stone Band, a performance by the “American Belles” Troupe, and a tribute to veterans. VIP tickets also available: $150 per person and include USO style show and cast party reception at the Hanover Theater Sunday, September 28, 2008.

During the evening, there will be a presentation of the Massachusetts Minuteman Award for Merit awarded to James H. Harrington and a Public Service Award to Senator Stephen M. Brewer.

Divided We Fail Comes to Worcester, May 27 - 29

AARP will bring its Divided We Fail initiative to Worcester May 27-29, as part of the continuing effort to find solutions and end political gridlock on the issues of health care and lifetime financial security.

May 27 – 29, daily from 11 am – 2 pm: Stop by the pledge drive at the Greendale Mall and meet Champ, the Divided We Fail mascot. Pledge drives will also take place at the Salem Square Library and the Worcester Senior Center.

May 29, 10 am - 11:30 am: Divided We Fail will hold a Town Hall Meeting with Rep. Jim McGovern (D-3rd) and State Treasurer Timothy Cahill at Worcester State College to provide the public with the opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns about lifetime financial security.
