Join the YWCA Central Massachusetts for its annual Women’s Health Night on Wednesday, October 29 from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. at One Salem Square, downtown Worcester. The event, presented by the YWCA and sponsored by UMass Memorial Medical Center, is free and open to the public.
Women’s Health Night is devoted to empowering women to take charge of their health and the health of their family. Beginning at 4:30 p.m. participants can attend a Health Expo featuring exhibits and displays of local agencies, community resources, health screenings, free chair massage and Reiki. The evening also includes a series of educational workshops on health and other topics important to today’s woman, including an advocacy workshop titled "Stand Up for Women's Health" and information about non-toxic cosmetics and body products provided by the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition. New this year, the Department of Public Health will hold a flu clinic in conjunction with the Women’s Health Night, offering free flu shots to adults 18 and over. Other highlights include Medication Safety presentations and a presentation by keynote speaker Lorraine Cole, Ph.D., CEO of the YWCA of the USA.

Conte Anadromous Fish Research Center in Turners Falls, Massachusetts will have an Open House on Saturday, October 13, 2007 from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. The Lab staff will set up demonstrations to present research work being performed at the Lab and in the field. Scientists will introduce the language of fishery resources such as threatened and endangered species, fish passage, anadromous species like salmon and shad, and catadromous species like eels. Visitors will see models of hydraulic flumes, weirs and the processes of monitoring experiments and collecting data. They will learn how dams and natural barriers effect the migration, fish passage, spawning and life cycles of fish. Scientists will explain how environment and river conditions create challenges for fish. It's free and all are welcome.

On Saturday, May 5th, That’s Entertainment in Worcester Massachusetts, “New England’s Largest Comic Book Shop”, will join with thousands of comic book shops around the world to celebrate the unique American art form that is comic books. The day has been dubbed "Free Comic Book Day," and its goal is to introduce as many people to the wonders of comic books as possible.
This year's Free Comic Book Day falls on the Saturday after the theatrical release of Spider-Man 3, the hotly anticipated follow-up to the blockbuster Spider-Man movies.
In the course of Free Comic Book Day, stores will give away millions of comic books, ranging in subject matter from high-flying super-hero adventure to intense slice-of-life to crime noir to kid-friendly humor and more.
When you visit That’s Entertainment on May 5th, you will find a great variety of free comics. There are comics for children, for families to enjoy together, for adults, and especially for people who think they would never read a comic book.
