KidsNet/Youth Channel

KidsNet/Youth Channel is Worcester's premiere youth media after-school program.

Kidsnet/Youth Channel participants produce the program Teen Central.

Kidsnet/Youth Channel has four goals:

  • To provide students with hands-on experience in a real television station.
  • To offer students outside the classroom work in the real world.
  • To encourage expression through technology applied in television arts.
  • To furnish students with a link into the community, to nurture a sense of belonging while at the same time developing real career skills.

Option 1: Open enrollment from the community

KidsNet/Youth Channel® provides 8-10 enrollments for the community each scheduled session for the program. Applicants between the ages of 13 and 18 complete a registration and permission slip form and submit it to the program coordinator for acceptance into the program. Applicants not accepted into their requested session are given the opportunity to participate in the next scheduled session.

Option 2: Enrollment through affiliation groups

Teens participating in community youth organizations or agencies can request to participate in special projects through the affiliating organization or agency. The 'Affiliating' organization or agency is required to complete and submit and Affiliation Agreement. Special projects need additional approval from the Station Manager.

Option 3: Peer

Mentors Applications must be completed and submitted prior to each session. Applicants must demonstrate a proficient and competent level of skills as determined by WCCA staff and have independent transportation. Final selection and notification for participation will be completed by WCCA staff.
