Worcester Here and Now

Worcester Here & Now is a show about the people who are making and who have made a positive difference in our community. Each one in their own way has left their signature.
Telegram and Gazette Columnist Diane Williamson, Chris and Helen from the Webster House Restaurant, dance instructor Charlotte Klein, and the late musician Emil Haddad are just some of the many guests who have been featured on "WH&N" hosted by Sibyl Farson of Worcester.
Worcester Here & Now is cable cast on Channel 13 and streamed to the web at the following times: Mondays 7 PM, Tuesdays 10:30 AM and 6 PM and Fridays at 5:30 PM.

Filming for the 30 minute show is usually done the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month at WCCA TV13 at 1 PM and 2 PM. Guests are encouraged to bring pictures or video for the customized ending to the show.

Operation Military Kids - Meet Kim Pond and Jennifer Cesaitis and learn more about this great program that provides support to the children of our armed forces as they serve our country's needs.  This is one of those organizations that you really want to learn more about.  There will be a Ready Set Go training January 26th at WCCA to help interested parties learn more about this valuable service and how you can lend a hand.  Learn more about OMK at www.operationmilitarykids.org

Week of January 22nd:

Worcesters Best Chef - Meet Stanley Nicas, Chef at the Castle Restaurant in Leicester and Domenic Mecurio of Mercury Media and Entertainment and learn more about how you can sample some truely GREAT FOOD at Union Station Sunday, January 28th from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM.  For more information about the participating chefs, how to get tickets or other activities happening at the event go to www.worcestersbestchef.com .

Week of January 29th:

Mary Mason - Meet Sibyl's friend, Mary Mason and listen as she shares her life story.  This amazing woman is an inspiration to all and a great role model for our community.

Week of December 4th:

Mackenzie Melemed and Chris Coyne - A second apprearance for Mackenzie Melemed "the Little Piano Man" and a first time apprearance for Chris Coyne, the 2006 winner of the Jeffrey Defrino Scholarship offered each year at the Paxton Center School.  Mackenzie created the scholarship in honor of the late Jeffrey Defrino.  You can learn more about this scholarship by visiting www.mackenziemelemed.com  Both Mackenzie and Chris will perform during this show.

Week of December 11th: 

Tuscan Rose - Meet the owner of the Tuscan Rose, Marine Vincequere and the owner of Antiques on the Common, Susan Rice and learn more about their stores on the Grafton Common.  These two entrepreneurial women share their stories and information about their unique lines of merchandise. You can visit the Tuscan Rose at www.thetuscanrose.com

Week of December 18th:

ForgeWorks Farm - Meet Christine and Ted Mahan, owners of Forgeworks Farm and learn more about their therapeutic riding program, Ride with Pride.  Their stories will touch your heart and their vision will inspire you.  This is a great show any time of the year...  but especially now...

Week of December 25th: - Due to the Christmas Holiday Worcester Here and Now will not be aired at its regularly schedule times on Monday at 7 PM or Tuesday at 10:30 AM. The show will resume its regular schedule for the remainder of the week and can be seen Tuesday evening at 6 PM and Friday evening at 5:30 PM.

Park Hill Gallery in Worcester - Meet the owner of the Park Hill Gallery, Dave Maki and one of the craftsman, Clive Hamilton whose work is being exhibited.  The gallery offers a good variety of artwork and periodically beautiful crafts like the handmade tables and headboards from Clive Hamilton.  They are located at 387 Park Avenue, Worcester, MA 01610. 

Week of November 20th:

WH&N Honored for Completion of 100 Espisodes!

Host Sibyl Farson of Worcester Here & Now and the production crew were honored on September 9th for successfully completing 100 espisodes. A Certificate of Accomplishment was presented on behalf of the WCCA TV13 Board of Directors and the station's Executive Director, Mauro DePasquale. Congratulations to all who have helped to make the show such a success!

The Royal Worcester Corset Company - - Meet some of the cast from this wonderful musical celebrating the colorful history of Worcester's blue collar workers and trade schools during the early 20th Century. TIcket proceeds to purchase equipment for the new, Worcester Technical High School.

Week of October 23rd:

Rosalie Tirella - Here is an opportunity to meet the founder and publisher of InCity Times and learn how she made it all happen. InCity Times is 'a bi-weekly publication, which celebrates the culture and diversity of Worcester's neighborhoods, reporting on events and news of interest to inner-city Worcester.'

The CASA Project - CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. This program is a group of people who care deeply about children who are involved with D.S.S and the Juvenile Court because they have been abused and neglected. The CASA Project relies on trained community volunteers who provide the courts with a powerful voice on behalf of these vulnerable boys and girls.

Week of July 24:

Stephen Mills - presenting information about the Worcester Education Development Foundation, what they are doing to help our schools and how you can lend a hand.

Week of July 31:

Samaritans - Executive Director, Eileen Davis and volunteer Catherine Ohlinger share their experiences and passion for the Samaritans, which is an organization with a mission to prevent suicide through hotline, outreach and support group services.

This young man who was supposed to have helped me collate the sheets, he got a raise, and I didn't. And I was told, "Well, Sibyl, he has a family to support." . . . I said, "Well, so do I," and he looked at me with ice-cold blue eyes and said, "Well, that's just your fault. You shouldn't have gotten divorced."

Sybil Farson Bio

Sybil Farson, host of WCCA's Worcester Here and Now, has traveled far and wide through the fields of journalism. From writing advertising copy for the Salem Evening News she moved into an editorial assistant's chair at the Worcester Telegram. There she spent 27 years as a House & Home reporter, food, film and theater critic, and then as a daily and Sunday columnist interviewing hundreds of celebrities in various professions worldwide.

Upon retirement from the Telegram & Gazette, she wrote restaurant columns (EATS) for Worcester Magazine, co-hosted talk shows on channels 3 and 13 and taught a film course at Assumption College. A recipient of numberous awards, she currently introduces the monthly Silver Screen feature at Showcase North with background talks about its stars.
