WCCA TV 13 “The People Channel” Voter Education Project presents Candidate Interviews on Local TV and Steaming On-Line

WORCESTER – Candidate for City Council and School committee participated in a second part of WCCA TV’s Candidate Profile Series to be seen on TV this weekend. Part One (1) which ran monthly spots since June 2011. Part Two (2) of the series, a nearly five hour total presentation which can now be seen on WCCA cable channel 13 and on WCCATV.COM this Friday September 16th Saturday September 17th and Sunday September 18th at the following times:

Part 2 is co-hosted by and moderated by Mauro DePasquale, Executive Director of WCCA TV and also host of the TV show “SOAPBOX” and by Gary Rosen, a local writer, radio personality and host of WCCA’s Rosen’s Round table which is seen on WCCA TV 13.

Invitations to participate were sent to incumbents and candidates, via email, and snail mail according to information obtained by the Election Commission. The first part was shot in early summer and second shoot was completed Wednesday Sept 14 at WCCA TV studios at 415 Main Street, downtown Worcester. Times slots were issued on a first come first serve basis. The program was produced in partnership with local volunteers, students, and the staff of WCCA TV.

Participating for the entire series part one and two included candidates for City Council positions were: Virginia Ryan, Joff Smith, Barbara Haller, Devin Coleman, George Russell, Sarai Rivera , Steve Buchalter, Kate Toomey, Joseph Petty, Bill Coleman, and Konstantina Lukes.

Participating candidates for School Committee were: Todd Mark Salmonsen, John Trobaugh, Matt Talyor, Hilda Ramirez, Brian O’Connell, Diana Biancheria, Tracy Novick, John Monfreda and Donna Colorio.

WCCA TV’s Candidate Profile Series offers voters an opportunity to see and learn about the candidate as the camera catches their personalities as well to hear, directly from each those participating, what is important to them as they answer questions concerning a range of topics including Tax rates, city and school budgets, MCAS, School Committee district representation, the level of city transparency and inclusiveness, and government policies and more.

Those candidates who missed this opportunity for one reason or another still have an chance for face time on WCCA TV, Worcester, Public Access television and media center.

WCCA TV continually offers many programs to empower individuals and organizations such as NEWS 13 in care of producer Jen Picherri here at WCCA TV. We encourage people including candidates and those elected to avail themselves of WCCA’s tools , resources and programming platforms such as Soapbox, or the dozens of locally produced community shows. For instance, WCCA’s NEWS 13 welcomes editorial views and opinions, and also opportunities to discuss issues, as well as provides studio space for community correspondents to share news and information, or to make use of our electronic community calender.
