Worcester Domino’s® and NFPA Partner with Worcester Fire Department to Promote Fire Safety
Local residents may receive free pizza for properly functioning smoke alarms

WORCESTER, Ma., Sept. 28, 2015 – Worcester Domino’s, located at 413A Park Ave., and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) are teaming up with the Worcester Fire Department to promote fire safety during Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 4 – 10). On Oct. 6 – 7 from 3 – 8 p.m., anyone who orders a Domino’s pizza may be randomly selected and surprised at the door when their pizza arrives aboard an F-250 fire truck. If the smoke alarms in the home are working, the pizza is free. If the smoke alarms are not working, the firefighters will replace the batteries.

“Fire safety is extremely important,” said Henry Askew, Worcester Domino’s franchise owner. “We’re very excited to partner with NFPA and the fire department for a program that not only promotes the safety of our friends and neighbors, but rewards those who make fire safety a priority.”

This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign theme is “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep: Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm.”

“Half of all home fire deaths result from fires reported between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., when most people are asleep,” said Worcester Fire Department Lt. Annie Pickett. “That’s why having a fully functioning smoke alarm in every bedroom is so important. Smoke alarms save lives.”

Customers can call Worcester Domino’s at 508-754-2236 to place their order and be eligible for the fire truck delivery.

Latest Seasonally Unadjusted Job and Unemployment Estimates for Local Labor Markets in Massachusetts

BOSTON MA, September 22, 2015 – The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development reports today that seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates went down in all local labor market areas during the month of August.

The Worcester, Lawrence-Methuen-Salem, Lowell-Billerica-Chelmsford, and Leominster-Gardner areas added jobs over the month. Three areas had no change in job levels while seasonal losses occurred in the remaining eight areas.

Compared to August 2014, unemployment rates are down in all labor markets measured by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The statewide seasonally adjusted jobs estimate showed a 7,200 job gain in August and an over the year gain of 90,200 jobs.

In order to compare the statewide rate to local unemployment rates, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates the statewide unadjusted unemployment rate for August was 4.5 percent, down 0.4 of a percentage point from the July 2015 rate.

Last week, the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development reported the statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.7 percent for the month of August. The unemployment rate is down 0.9 percent over the year.

The unadjusted unemployment rates and job estimates for the labor market areas reflect seasonal fluctuations and therefore may show different levels and trends than the statewide seasonally adjusted estimates.

The labor force, unemployment rates and jobs estimates for Massachusetts is based on different statistical methodology specified by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.

NOTES: The preliminary September 2015 and revised August 2015 unemployment rate, labor force data, and jobs estimates for Massachusetts will be released on Thursday, October 15, 2015; local unemployment statistics will be released on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Detailed labor market information is available at www.mass.gov/lmi. See the 2015 Media Advisory annual schedule for complete listing of release dates.

We thank ROBERT ( a member of the American Cancer Society) for the beautiful testimonial about WCCA TV

Kind words about you ALL
(from a Soapbox guest)!
Tracy,

I would like to take a moment to thank you and the staff at WCCA TV for allowing us to spread our message of HOPE as a part of ACS Relay For Life – Worcester. Everyone, from hosts Tommy & Mauro, to camera and control room staff made us feel comfortable, like we were just having conversations with friends. Amy and I were worried we would not have enough to talk about for 27 minutes. Needless to say, once we got going, we ran out of time on both shows!

It was also a learning experience. I will admit, I would just go by Channel 13 (now channel 194). After experiencing the service you provide first hand, I will not just breeze by anymore. I have actually added your website to my bookmarks!

Thank you again, both for spreading our message and educating me on the Hidden gem of Worcester.

Rob Robert Odgren
Tri-Chair
ACS Relay For Life – Worcester

THANK YOU ROBERT. IT WAS OUR PLEASURE !
