On this episode of the Chandler Chat, host Harriette Chandler invites back Jason Homer, Executive Director of the Worcester Public Library, located by the Worcester Common at 3 Salem Square, to discuss how the WPL is planning to meet the challenges brought by the 2nd Trump administration's budget cuts and layoffs at the Institute of Museum and Library Services, an independent federal agency that supports libraries throughout the country. Also of great concern is the fervor surrounding book bans concerning race, gender and genocide studies, and they discuss a bill in the MA legislature that would prohibit such censorship and protect public access to information. Finally, they speak on how best to support your local library, from donating to the Worcester Public Library Foundation, or volunteering in person.
