On this episode of the Chandler Chat, host Harriette Chandler welcomes back Mayor of Worcester Joe Petty, currently serving his 8th term as the longest-serving mayor in the city's history. They speak on his plans for the city, with the major issues he's focused on being the housing shortage and the homelessness crisis. To address the city's need for housing some 1,800 new units are being built across the city, ideally bringing down the high cost of rent and home ownership, and how the city is looking to other cities around the country, from Boston to San Francisco, to find feasible solutions to address our rising unhoused population. They speak on the upcoming 2026 State Elections, national politics, the success of the state's Student Opportunity Act funded by the "Millionaire Tax," and concerns around the ICE operations in the city.
