Close To Home 606 Brynn Cotter Pt 1

On this first episode in a two-part series of Close to Home, host Maureen Schwab interviews Brynn Cotter, local historian, to discuss her research project into the historic Polish-immigrant community centered around Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish in the Green Island neighborhood of Worcester. They speak on the circumstances in Poland in the 19th century, which was partitioned out of existence between Prussia, Austria and Russia, that led to mass emigration, and examine how the character of the neighborhood has changed over the years, seeing waves of diverse immigrant groups to the construction of I-290 up to the modern day.
