On this episode of the Human Touch, host Augustine Kanjia welcomes back Bwema Matata, Program Therapist at the Hospital for Behavioral Medicine, to discuss the very real and under-addressed mental health issues and traumas that migrants and asylum seekers face both in their countries of origin, during the immigration process and settling in their new homes. They discuss how discriminatory violence and prejudice is often a factor in pushing someone to emigrate or seek asylum, and how those traumas leave scars that deserve and require attention and care in order for the immigrant to successfully integrate and live happily.
