On this episode of the Senior Speak, Edith Morgan welcomes Amy Vogel Waters, Director at the Worcester Senior Center and Director of the City of Worcester's Elder Affairs Commission, to discuss the ongoing project to redevelop the former St. Vincent Hospital building at 128 Providence St., abutting the Senior Center, into nearly 100 affordable senior housing units. They discuss how the project has secured over one million dollars in federal funding to help ensure the property is environmentally sound and free of lead and asbestos, and has found a nonprofit developer, Rogerson Communities, to move forward with the redevelopment. They speak on how the apartments will be ideal for seniors, adjoining the Worcester Senior Center with ease of access to all the services and programs that they offer.
