On this episode of the Senior Speak, Edith Morgan welcomes back Andrew Noone, local author and independent history scholar, to speak on his new book, 'Tomorrow’s Dawn: How the Eighteenth-Century Trials of Quock Walker and Elizabeth Freeman (Mumbet) Led to Slavery’s End in Massachusetts', which details the pair of emancipation cases which impacted the movement toward abolition in New England. They discuss the trials and their historical significance, where these two Massachusetts Supreme Court rulings paved the way to make Massachusetts the first state in the union to effectively, if not explicitly, abolish slavery by 1790.
