Talk of Main Street 22

On this episode of the Talk of Main Street, host Konnie Lukes and panelists Mark Henderson and Mel Greenberg discuss a recent article published in the New York Times Magazine concerning mental health, depression and suicide at WPI, where over the course of six months from July 2021 to January 2022 seven students died, many of them taking their own lives. They discuss the college's efforts to address this mental health crisis openly, both amongst the faculty, student body and now the press, and reflect on the generational shift in the stigma over mental health, where in years previous the college administration may have ashamedly hidden these tragedies.

If you are having thoughts of suicide, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline or go to SpeakingOfSuicide.com/resources for a list of additional resources.
